We are currently seeking candidates for an exciting opportunity as our Creative Content Writer.

This is a brand new position for Banner and will be an integral role within our Business Development Department.  This position will be responsible for completing various writing and business development activities such as creating copy for marketing materials, web and blog copy, social media posts and take a lead role in gathering and writing proposal content for our clients and potential clients.  This position will proof and edit various technical information and incorporate creative narrative that reflects Banner’s organizational voice and tone. If selected to interview for this opportunity, a portfolio will be requested that demonstrates your professional experience.

Location:  This position may be based in Brookings, Sioux Falls or possibly remote.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for writing marketing materials, web and blog copy, social media posts, and proposal content in response to RFP’s/SOQ’s. This person will work with the Business Development team to ensure accurate briefing of work and on-time delivery.
    Create original, action-oriented, and compelling copy (optimized for multiple channels including emails, advertising, websites, eNewsletters, and print/digital marketing collateral) to market to Banner’s services.
    Work closely with Business Development team to ensure that all copy/content/messaging is accurate and clearly reinforces and supports partner value propositions.
    Understand and execute the difference between writing for effective communication and creative marketing copy.
    Demonstrate a strong grasp of brand positioning, standards, and design language. Ensures consistency with brand positioning.
    Process information supplied by staff and translate that information into effective, action-oriented copy that reflects the brand’s voice and tone.
    Proposes copy concepts and presents underlying strategic thinking to Business Development team.
    Demonstrate and maintain strong copy editing and proofreading skills.
    Produce error-free content that is high-quality and in adherence with the company’s style guide.
    Have a solid grasp of SEO concepts, and exceptional skill and understanding of the nuances of social media writing with high-engagement content that reflects our brand’s voices
    Manage multiple projects: Juggle multiple projects, some with short deadlines.
    Collaborate with other Banner departments to cross-sell services to business partners.

Educational / Professional Experience Qualifications:

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing or related field.
    Three to five years of experience with content creation and/or copywriting.
    Candidates must:Demonstrate interest in various engineering projects and develop working knowledge of project elements.
    Be detail-oriented.
    Must have the ability to create and build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholder across multiple teams and personality types.
    Must have effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
    Must have ability to understand brand needs, market dynamics, and priorities.
    Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management and organizational skills.
    Must demonstrate strong command of the English language – grammar and usage.
    Must be proficient in balancing competing priorities with tight timelines.
    Must have ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects.
    Must have ability to work on computer for long periods of time. 
    Must understands and identify with company culture. 
    Must demonstrate integrity and confidentiality of company information. 
    Must have a valid driver’s license without violations that would hinder insurability by the company insurance policy. 
    Must have the ability to operate a computer and computer software related to the position. 
    Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. 
    Must have a friendly, helpful, and pleasant attitude.
    Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company in a professional and positive manner at all times.
