JOB SUMMARY:

The Facility Manager is responsible for the overall management and custodial services of the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains, Inc. sites and extension facilities to ensure they are maintained and provide a safe and clean environment for both staff and youth. The Facility Manager is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of all custodial staff in Brookings, Moody County & Yankton. The Facility Manager is expected to uphold the Club values inside and outside of the Club. The Club values include teamwork, impact driven, excellence & good character.

JOB DUTIES:

Manage custodial staff by the creation and implementation of performance plans, trimester reviews and individual and team staff meetings.
Provide leadership, direction and problem solving to custodial staff in the areas of facility and custodial duties.
Responsible for ensuring the custodial staff are within budget on hours and supplies in each Unit.
Oversee the identification and evaluation of opportunities to improve facility maintenance, management and building sustainability and recommends modifications to improve program performance, as appropriate.
Supervise and ensure custodial staff are performing cleaning duties including: cleaning of tile, sheet vinyl, carpet, and wood floors.  This includes sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and scrubbing of floors. Other duties include cleaning walls, ceilings, overhangs, woodwork, lockers, bathrooms, office areas, windows, furniture, light fixtures, drinking fountains, chalkboards, etc.  Included would be the assistance in the application of sealers, waxes, and polishes involved in maintaining the flooring in accordance with the custodian maintenance schedule.
Supervise and ensure custodial staff are performing deep cleaning on a quarterly basis, including: carpet cleaning, light fixtures, roof filters, annual gym and vinyl floors, bathrooms and other deep cleaning determined as necessary.
Perform light maintenance. Activities would include assembly, replacing, repairing, painting, and covering.  These functions relate to furniture, equipment, doors, switch plates, receptacles, dispensers and toilet lids, hoses, batteries and other equipment used during the usual course of duties.
Responsible for the safety and security of all facilities. This includes ensuring custodial staff are performing building and grounds checks and reporting to Facility Manger any unsafe and hazardous conditions or any breaking/trespassing situations by unauthorized individuals. 
General Staff Assistance:  These activities would include moving furniture and equipment, special “set-ups” or “take-downs” for certain activities, and assisting staff with any special needs.
Maintain current files on job policies, inventory records, and needed repairs. All updates to the files will be communicated to Facility Manager’s supervisor and saved to sharepoint.
Travel to each Unit on a routine basis to meet with and support custodial staff.
Organize and work with all outside vendors and trades on building/facility repairs and needs.
Contact, organize, implement and maintain all contract services with outside partners.
Assist in the planning, organization, and scheduling of cleaning and maintaining the Boys & Girls Club buildings.
Perform routine facility and equipment maintenance functions, including minor repair, part replacement, and adjustment tasks.
Lead transportation trainings per Club policy and procedures.
Responsible for entire organization vehicle fleet including maintenance and repairs
Responsible for updating and maintaining the Emergency Preparedness Plan and Facility Maintenance Plan.
Lead the Building Committee and ensure that tasks are being completed including quarterly building walk-throughs.
Other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate degree required but Bachelor degree preferred
Experience with custodial services
Management/Supervisory Experience
Building or Facility Management Experience
Budget and Contract Service Experience is preferred
Ability to do Light Maintenance
Must be able to provide leadership, on-the-spot and reflective feedback, and supervision to assigned employees
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be of the mental and physical capacity to interact and communicate with staff at the Club to ensure safety of the facility
Understand and carry out oral and written directions
Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 50 to 75 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.  This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods of time.
Perceiving the nature of sound, far and near vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important tasks of this job.
Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may be occasionally experienced.
Ability to operate various types of general office and maintenance equipment
