South Dakota State University American Indian Student Center is offering an exciting career opportunity as an American Indian Program Coordinator. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us.  This is a 12 month, full-time, benefit-eligible position. This position is supervised by the Director of the American Indian Student Center. 

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.  Sponsorship is not available for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and coordinate activities designed to enhance academic success and interpersonal development of students served by the American Indian Student Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling or related field by date of application;

·         Direct and sustained interactions with Native American or otherwise indigenous college students;

·         Program planning, development, delivery, and assessment;

At least three years of experience in programming or relevant work experience;
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
·         Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences;

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills;

Strong interpersonal skills;
Ability to work as a contributing team member;
Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs;
Demonstrated ability or potential to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational materials and direct effective programs;
Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Education, Higher Education, American Indian Studies, or related field with one year experience;

·         Demonstrated experience with advising student workers;

·         Demonstrated leadership in developing or leading cultural trainings;

·         Demonstrated collaboration in developing funding proposals to support new and/or enhanced programming;
