South Dakota State University (SDSU) Office of Human Resources is currently seeking a collegial and professional Director of Human Resources to begin on or after April 22, 2021. This position is a full-time, regular, benefit-eligible position.

The Director of Human Resources provides strategic and administrative leadership, management, and oversight to the Office of Human Resources (HR). The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the general management of HR functions and personnel, process coordination and supervision, coordinates HR functions with SDSU departmental personnel, ensures HR alignment with strategic planning, adherence to policy, procedure, and applicable regulatory provisions, performs conflict of interest reviews, and participates in system and other meetings as designated by VP for HR.

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a closely related field completed by first day of employment;
Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources management;
Demonstrated ability to use discretion and excellent judgment;
Maintain confidentiality, and work under and meet multiple deadlines;
Demonstrated ability to influence others and be persuasive when facing resistance;
Strong organizational and analytical skills;
Attention to detail;
Ability to work effectively with people at varying levels within the University;
Customer service focus;
Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills;
Strong supervisory and leadership skills;
Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees;
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite;
Ability to process Human Resources transactions and gather and/or report on relevant metrics accurately;
Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and willingness to travel.
· PHR, SPHR, SHRM certification;
· Graduate degree.
