Job Responsibilities:  To assist the Department Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences with administrative duties and tasks related to delivery of undergraduate, professional pharmacy and graduate programs. Additional responsibilities include, assisting with purchases and acquisitions, monitoring of department budget, grants management, student service functions for the undergraduate, professional pharmacy and graduate programs, and department management and operation functions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:  

Accounting processes
Budget, finance and grant fund management
Purchasing practices
Payroll and leave processing
Database management and computer software applications and systems (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Skills & Ability to:

Independently make sound decisions and resolve problems or conflicts
Prioritize work to meet competing deadlines
Interpret, explain and apply rules, regulations, policies and practices
Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Coordinate and work with people from diverse background both within and outside of the department
Provide a high level of customer service when assisting students, administrators, faculty and staff
Coordinate with various departments
Ensure and monitor compliance with institutional policies
Collect and compile materials and reports
Coordinate and schedule meetings, special events and travel plans

Comments: Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, written communication, organizational, and technological skills are essential. Self-motivation, attention to detail, problem-solving and multi-tasking will be vital for this position. SDSU is a tobacco free environment.
