This is a part-time position. Continuation past 12 months is dependent upon funding.
Salary Range CG DH: $12.14 – $16.50/hour
12 months, 75% time

Job Responsibilities: This position is responsible for maintaining all plant related records including, but not limited to, the plant records database, files of plants received, accession tags and/or display labels, interpretive signage, and electronic maps. In addition to records and data tracking this position aids in the planning, growing, design, installation and maintenance of herbaceous and woody plants throughout the Formal Gardens, as well as items for the vegetable garden.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Standard plant collections curatorial practices and procedures
BG Base and BG Map collections management software
Skill & Ability to:
Work with staff of all ages and from all backgrounds
Work in all types of weather, under strenuous conditions
Work as part of a team
Participate in and instruct virtual and in-person educational opportunities
Required License: Valid Driver’s License. Pesticide Applicator’s License or ability to obtain one within six months of hire is required.
Comments: This is a part-time position with peak season months May – September which may require evening hours and/or weekend hours. This position is classified as a Grounds Keeper. SDSU is a tobacco free environment.
